Q: How can I get involved in Wolfe City?
A: Citizens are encouraged to get involved in the city.  Getting involved is easy. All citizens are welcome to attend city council meetings to be able understand what is going on within the city. Involvement in various organizations which actively support our town is also encouraged. Organizations that you should consider include Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, Kiwanis and many others.

Q: What are the City Hall business hours?
A: The city hall is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Q: What is Wolfe City?
A: Wolfe City is a city in Hunt County, Texas, United States located at the intersection of State Highways 34 and 11. It is approximately seventeen miles north of Greenville in north central Hunt County, and was settled in the 1860s or 1870s when J. Pinckney Wolfe built a mill near the banks of Oyster Creek. The City was incorporated February 22, 1888.

Q: Do I need to register my dog, cat, or other pets?
A: All dogs should be registered with the city.  Dogs that roam freely will be picked up by our local Animal Control.

 When are City Council meetings?
A: The Council Meeting are the second Monday of each month at 6:00 pm.

Q: Where are the City Council meetings held?
A: The meetings are held in the City Council chamber located at 103 West Main Street, Wolfe City, TX 75496.

Q: How do I view information or contact the mayor or members of the council?
A: Visit our City Council page for a bio on each member and the mayor. To contact the mayor or council members please call City Hall at (903) 496-2251.  

Q: Can I attend City Council meetings?
A: All citizens are invited to participate in City Council meetings.  If you would like to be placed on the agenda contact any council member to discuss your request.  All citizens are granted three minutes to speak at the beginning of each council meeting. The council is not allowed to vote or take action on any item not placed on the agenda.  Additionally, comments or questions cannot be taken from the audience member after the Citizens Comment portion of the agenda has passed.


Police & Fire Department

Where is the Police Department located?
A: The Wolfe City Police Department is located at 105 West Main Street, Wolfe City, TX 75496.

Q: Where is the fire department located?
A: The Wolfe City Volunteer Fire Department is located at 102 North Santa Fe Street, Wolfe City, TX 75496.

Q: I need to contact the police department but it is not an emergency.  What do I do?  
A: Call the police department’s non-emergency number at (903) 496-2800.


Water Department

Q: When are utility bills due?
A:  Utility bills are due on the 15th (fifteenth) of each month

​Q: How can I pay my water bill?
A:  For your convenience, you can pay your water bill by:

  1. visiting City Hall
  2. using the Night Drop at City Hall
  3. Online:   pay.wolfecitytx.org

  • Paying Your Utility Bill At City Hall:
    • You may pay by cash, check, money order, credit card, or debit card.
    • There is a convenience fee for paying by credit card or debit card:
      • This convenience fee is charged to you directly from the service provider, NexBillPay, and not by the City of Wolfe City. Also, the City does not benefit from this fee.
        • Bill Totals $0.01 – $73.00 = $2.00 Service Fee
        • Bill Totals: Over $73.00 = 2.75% Service Fee
  • Paying Your Utility Bill in the Night Drop:
    • When paying your utility bill through the night drop:
    • Enclose your payment in an envelope
    • Always identify your account number in the memo on your check and/or on your envelope.
    • Only pay with checks or money orders.  NO CASH IN NIGHT DROP PLEASE!!!
    • Money Orders are available at the Post Office, any Bank, Wolfe City Grocery or Kwik Chek
  • Paying Your Utility Bill Online Or By Phone:
    • Initial Set-Up of your online bill pay account:
      • Requires you to have your account # associated with your city utility account. It will be located on your bill or you can call City Hall @ 903-496-2251
        • FEES:Online or By Phone:
          • E-Checks: Bill Totals: $0.01 – $5,000 = $2.00 Service Fee
          • Bill Totals: Over $73.00 = 2.75% Service Fee
          • CC/Debit: Bill Totals $0.01 – $73.00 = $2.00 Service Fee
          • PLEASE NOTE:  These fees are “Service Fees” that NexBillPay charges to you for this convenience. These fees go to Nexbillpay and NOT to the City of Wolfe City.
        • Multiple Utility Accounts:
          • If you have multiple utility accounts with the city, there is a way to link all of your accounts to one log in account.

Q: I need help setting up my online bill pay account?
A:  Please call NexBillPay Customer Service, M-F, 8am-5pm, at 1-800-639-2435, Opt#1 

Q: How can I report a water leak or a pothole?
A: If the water leak is found during city hall business hours  (M – F 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) then you should call City Hall at (903) 496-2251. A pothole can also be reported during these times to City Hall.

Q: I have an after hours water emergency. Who do I call?
A: You would need to call the city’s Public Works Department after hours number: (903) 461-8744.


Trash Service

Q: When is trash day? 
A: Trash is picked up every Thursday throughout the city.  Trash must be put out by 7 a.m. on Thursdays. The date may change due to a holiday. Citizens will be notified via Facebook and the downtown marquee when trash pickup dates will be altered. Citizens are also encouraged to call City Hall if there are any questions.

Q: When should I put my trash out for pickup on Thursday?
A:  All approved trash must be bagged and put out by 7 am.

Q: Is there a trash limit on what I can put out? 
A:  Yes, there is a 10 (ten) bag limit per week.

Q: What items can I NOT throw away? 
A:  Dead animals, tires, batteries, chemicals, paint, TVs, appliances with Freon, medication, burned materials, construction materials: bricks, shingles, sheet rock, lumbar, pipes/steel, or doors.

Q: Can I put out Bulk Items for trash pick up? 
A:  Yes, but there is a 1 (one) cubic yard limit that is allowed per week.  Brush must be cut into 3 ft lengths and bound together, weighing no more than 50 lbs.
       You must contact City Hall by noon on the Wednesday before trash day, to be put on the Bulk Pick Up list.
